Metro Cable 14

About Metro Cable

“Bringing Government Closer to the People”

On behalf of the participating seven member jurisdictions, the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission operates a local government affairs channel, Metro Cable 14. Metro Cable 14 seeks to inform, entertain and educate the public by broadcasting the government meetings that affect their communities.

Meeting Coverage Procedures

Local government meetings are covered gavel-to-gavel (beginning to end) with no editing. Each meeting is cablecast at least twice. Some meetings are covered live with additional tape-delayed playback(s), while others receive tape-delayed playback only.

All meetings broadcast on Metro Cable 14 are closed-captioned.

Metro Cable does not provide dubbing services, nor does it archive or serve as an official meeting record keeper. For official records, contact the Clerk of the respective agency.

The government access channel exists to cablecast local government meetings.

Specific objectives include:

  • Providing and distributing programming of interest to residents that will inform, educate, and enlighten, as well as encourage participation in government services, activities, and decision-making.
  • Expanding citizen awareness of government and its decision-making processes by exposing citizens to live and tape delayed government meetings.
  • Enhancing existing public information materials and use cable television as a public information tool.
  • Providing information about programs and services offered by government departments, agencies, boards, commissions, and government-supported agencies.
